About Goldwick
We started Goldwick because too many people were struggling to read their own pension statements. We set out to change that — calmly, clearly, and without any commercial pressure.
← Back to HomeOur Story
Goldwick grew out of a small conversation group that met at a café on Loi Kroh Road in early 2019. A handful of expats — some retired, some still working — were comparing notes on letters they had received from pension providers back home. Several of the letters had sat unopened for months simply because the language felt impenetrable.
Rather than pointing people toward professionals who might charge for advice they had not asked for, the founders decided to create something different: a resource that explains the words, not the decisions. They wanted a place where someone could hear the term "defined benefit scheme" explained in plain English, see what a typical annual statement looks like, and leave with a clearer sense of their own paperwork — without being nudged into any particular course of action.
Goldwick was formally established in Chiang Mai in 2020. The name references the idea of tracking wealth carefully — not chasing it. The ledger metaphor runs through everything we do: clear rows, well-labelled columns, nothing hidden.
Today we offer three main resources: a group overview session, a practical workbook, and a year-round community membership. All three are designed for individuals who want to understand their pension documentation better. None of them constitute financial advice, and that boundary is one we hold deliberately and with care.
Our Mission
To make pension documentation readable and manageable for any individual who holds it — regardless of their background or prior knowledge — through calm, well-organised, non-advisory education.
Transparency
We are always clear about what we are and what we are not. We explain information; we do not give advice. That line is stated plainly in everything we produce.
Neutrality
Goldwick has no commercial relationship with any pension provider, financial product, or advisory firm. Our sessions and materials are fully self-funded through participation fees.
Respect
People come to us at different stages of understanding. We never make anyone feel they should know more than they do, and we pace every session accordingly.

How We Keep Things Dependable
Goldwick is a small operation, and we hold it to clear internal standards so that participants always know what to expect.
Content Review Cycle
All session materials and workbook content are reviewed every six months to ensure terminology reflects current terminology in common use across major pension providers.
Clear Scope Statement
Every session and piece of written content carries a visible disclaimer confirming that no individual advice is given. Participants are always directed to qualified professionals for personal decisions.
Personal Data Minimisation
We collect only the information needed to organise sessions and respond to enquiries. No financial or pension data is ever requested from participants, and personal data is stored securely.
Moderated Community Standards
The Community Learning Year forum is actively moderated to keep discussions educational rather than advisory. Posts are reviewed to maintain the non-advice scope of the membership.
Workbook Accuracy Checks
Before each new edition of the Records Tidy-Up Workbook is released, the checklist and folder layout examples are tested by a small group of participants for clarity and completeness.
Thailand-Context Awareness
Our materials acknowledge the practical realities of managing pension paperwork from abroad, including time-zone differences and international correspondence norms — without straying into advice territory.
Pension Education Resources in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai has become home to a large and growing number of long-term international residents — many of whom hold pension arrangements from their country of origin. Keeping track of those arrangements while living abroad introduces a layer of complexity that is easy to underestimate: correspondence arrives in unfamiliar formats, terminology varies between providers, and annual statements can feel abstract when you are far from the country that issued them.
Goldwick occupies a specific and deliberate position in this landscape. We are not a financial advisory firm, and we are not connected to any pension provider. What we offer is closer to a reference library combined with a study group: a place where people can hear terminology explained, look at annotated examples of typical documents, and work through their own filing systems in an organised way.
Our group overview sessions draw on a glossary developed over several years of working with residents across Chiang Mai's international community. The Records Tidy-Up Workbook emerged from the observation that most people who feel anxious about pension paperwork are not lacking knowledge — they are lacking structure. A clear folder layout and a short checklist are often enough to shift that feeling significantly.
The Community Learning Year is for people who want an ongoing relationship with the subject rather than a one-time session. Topics are chosen collaboratively, the pace is unhurried, and recordings are kept in an archive so nothing is missed. Goldwick's aim throughout is simply to make pension documentation feel like something you understand and have under control — nothing more, nothing less.
